Following the time-honored tradition of compositing published in the supermarket tabloids, create a composited image worthy of print in the “Weekly World News” (weeklyworldnews.com). For example, you may create an image of a space alien singing karaoke with an Elvis impersonator in Las Vegas.

Here are the orginal source images I used to put together the amazing Michael Phelps story.

The first step was to create a matte for Nessi. I used a RotoShape node.
|

The process for Michael Phelps was the same. I used a RotoShape node.
|
|

Next I placed Michael in the original pool scene and added a shadow. I used a DropShadow node and some 3d moves.

|
|
I repeated the placement and shadow process for Nessi. I used a DropShadow node and some 3d moves.
|
|
|
|
|
After placing the two characters in the screen I added some other nodes to attempt to blend the characters with their background, like color correction and brightness. Then I used a saturation node to make it black and white.

|
|
Finally I pulled it into Adobe Photoshop and added the story and highlights to resemble "The Weekly World News"
